About Tart Atelier

This is Tart Atelier.

A small London ceramics studio making joyful, glossy, slightly cheeky pieces for your walls and your table. Founded by Irish artist Tara Ennis, and made by hand, one order at a time.

A note from Tara, founder

Finding meaning in the made things.

I've always wanted art to be something you live with, not something you tiptoe around in a gallery. Tart is my way of doing that: pieces that make you smile when you hang your keys, pour a drink or walk down the hall.

Each piece takes time to make. I roll it, shape it, dry it slowly, fire it, glaze it by hand and fire it again.

Thank you for being here. Every order means the world.

The story so far

How Tart began.

Dublin

Art school

I studied fine art in Dublin, and I've never stopped making since. Painting, print, stitch, and eventually clay.

London

The art world

I moved to London and spent years on the other side of art: helping artists turn their work into things people could buy and live with.

The first frame

A frame for my own wall

I wanted to sell work when I left the corporate world and it took off.

Today

Tart Atelier

Hundreds of orders later, Tart is a small London studio making frames, wall dots, lilies, sconces and table pieces, all by hand.

What Tart stands for

Small studio, big feelings.

Made by hand, not by machine

Every piece is rolled, shaped and glazed by a person. You'll see the marks, and that's the point.

Colour is joy

I pick glazes like sweets from a jar. 53 of them, and counting.

Made to order, less waste

Nothing is made to sit in a warehouse. Your piece starts when you order it.

Made to keep

Fired twice and built to last, so it can hang on your wall for years.

The studio

Where it all happens.

Shelves of drying clay, a wall of glaze bottles, and a kiln that's opened like a present every time. This is where your piece gets made.

The people

Who makes your piece.

A small team in one London studio, making every piece by hand.
